A New Normal

We have been given the go ahead by the government that we can reopen for Thai Bodywork treatments!

As we move out of quarantine and toward a new normal, I would like to share the measures we have implemented to make our return to seeing clients again a safe, happy and relaxing affair for all concerned.

Existing clients may remember the enhanced hygiene protocols we put in place in the final weeks before lockdown. Those measures form the basis of our new post-quarantine practices, with adjustments to reflect both current official guidelines and what is known about the behaviour and transmission of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

To make absolutely sure that our treatment environment is as safe as possible for everyone concerned, I recently undertook professional training in risk assessment and cross-infection control relating to coronavirus and Covid-19.

So, what will having a Thai Bodywork treatment with me look like moving forward?

The good news is: not so very different at all! While many measures have always been part of our standard practice, I will walk you through our protocols and what an appointment will be like in practice. This is quite detailed, but hopefully reassuring to both my lovely regulars and anyone thinking about booking a treatment with me!

Booking

The number of available appointments has been reduced to allow more time for cleaning and disinfecting the work space between treatments. This may mean scheduling your appointments a little more in advance to avoid disappointment. If you are not already a member, I also recommend that you join our WhatsApp group where appointments that become available at short notice are posted.

Our online system will continue to operate as it did before, requiring payment to confirm the booking. To reduce the need to process payments in person ie handling cards and cash, the practice of advance online payments will be extended where possible for clients booking follow up treatments during their appointment.

Before Each Appointment

The space will be thoroughly ventilated, cleaned and all equipment and touchable surfaces disinfected. Air purifiers will be in operation during treatments to aid ventilation and maintain a fresh environment.

Just as they always have, all mat covers, blankets and towels, including hand towels in the bathroom are replaced for each appointment*. In addition, before each treatment I will be observing hand washing protocols and wearing a fresh change of clothing. Hand sanitiser is also available to use during the appointment if needed.

*The way in which these items are handled and laundered post-treatment has changed to reflect current guidance around dealing with possible contamination with coronavirus. More information can be provided on request – this post is long enough as it is!

Prior To The Appointment

Clients are asked to reschedule their appointments IMMEDIATELY if they and/or members of their household or anyone else they have been in contact with are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:

  • Cough
  • Elevated temperature/fever
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Loss of sense of smell/taste
  • Vomiting/diarrhoea
  • Any other flu-like symptoms

Anyone arriving for their appointment showing any of the above symptoms will a) not be admitted and b) be charged for the appointment, so please be sensible towards yourself and considerate of others.

If symptoms present themselves, as long as you inform us by 9am on the day of the appointment, you will not be charged. You should then follow the government advice to get tested if you can, self isolate and rest. We can reschedule your appointment once you are better and/or the self isolation period is over.

When You Arrive

As an extra precaution, clients will have their temperature taken at the door using a non-contact thermometer like this one before admittance. I will also take my own temperature in a similar manner if you wish.

Regretfully, children over the age of 6 months are no longer permitted to accompany parents who are having a treatment. If the client is bringing a baby under 6 months with them, the little one will also need to have their temperature taken.

Once admitted, clients will be immediately directed to the bathroom to wash their hands in accordance with official guidelines.

The Treatment

UPDATE 29.12.20 You are required to wear a face mask covering both the nose and mouth before entering the premises and for the duration of your appointment. In light of the identification of new and highly transmissable strains of covid-19 in the UK, we are unable to treat anyone who is exempt from wearing a mask and/or deemed to be clinically vulnerable for the foreseeable future.

Otherwise, a Thai Bodywork treatment with me remains unchanged.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

I will be following government guidance by wearing a clear full- face visor and mask for every treatment and following hand washing protocols.

So, there you have it! I am confident these measures provide the necessary protection for both my clients and myself and hope you are too. I will continue to monitor the findings of PHE and the WHO and adjustments to best practice will be implemented as and when new guidance becomes available.

If you have any feedback or further questions, let me know by hitting the chat button and sending us a message.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
