The Importance of Being Kind to Yourself

Many of us have been conditioned to believe that prioritising our needs is selfish and somehow wrong. I wholeheartedly disagree and more importantly, so does the research.

One of the growing number of scientists and researchers developing approaches in this area is Kristin Neff. Her book Self Compassion (also available as an audio course) is one I regularly recommend to clients. It outlines the reasons why being kind to ourselves is not only important but essential to our mental and physical health. There is also straightforward, practical advice for reducing the volume of your inner critic and cultivating that kindness.
